What's new in Claude for Small Business (September 2026)
Anthropic just connected Claude to the tools small businesses already run on. Here is what the update actually does and how to try it without risk.
On September 15, 2026, Anthropic added 43 workflows and 27 integrations to Claude for Small Business, connecting it to tools owners already use: Xero, Gusto, Stripe, Square, Shopify and Zapier among them. Every workflow runs in approval mode by default, so Claude stages the work and waits for approval before anything sends, posts or pays.

What did Anthropic actually add, and when?
On September 15, 2026, Anthropic announced that Claude for Small Business now includes 43 workflows and 27 integrations with tools small businesses already run on, among them Shopify, Salesforce, TikTok, Atlassian, Zoom, Xero, Gusto, Square, Stripe and Zapier, according to Anthropic's own announcement. The product runs inside Claude Cowork, the desktop app, and has been installed more than 900,000 times since it first launched in May 2026. Nothing about this changes the plan's price: it is a free addition to the product an owner is already paying for, not a new paid tier.
What can the new workflows actually automate?
The new workflows extend Claude from back-office tasks into things that touch revenue: a weekly financial brief pulled from the accounting tool already connected, lead qualification from inbound enquiries, first-draft proposals, social content, and bookkeeping reconciliation are among the examples Anthropic names. Once a tool is connected, a workflow can be set to run on a schedule rather than started by hand each time, which is the part that turns a one-off chat into something closer to a standing process.
Why does the approval-based control matter here?
Every workflow starts in approval mode by default: Claude drafts and stages the work, then waits for the owner to approve it before anything actually sends, posts or pays. That single default is the difference between a genuinely useful automation and the kind that quietly does something wrong while nobody is watching. It is also the detail worth checking first if a team turns one of these on: confirm approval mode is still active before trusting a workflow with anything that touches money or a customer, and only relax it once the workflow has proven itself over real runs.
How does a small business actually get started, and what should it do first?
Inside Claude Cowork, an owner installs the Small Business plugin, connects the tools already in use, and picks one task to automate rather than several at once. Anthropic is also running free training through the rest of the year: a partner webinar series runs from September 25 through November 17, 2026, with 14 technology partners including Xero, Gusto, Zapier, HubSpot and Atlassian each hosting a live session on their own connector. Separately, the Claude SMB Tour returns for fall 2026 with partner Tenex, running free half-day workshops in ten US cities including Boston, Detroit, Phoenix and Tampa, alongside more than 150 organizations now trained as Approved Claude SMB Trainers running workshops of their own. A 20-person company already on the plan loses nothing by connecting one already-paid tool and testing a single low-stakes workflow, like a weekly financial brief, before deciding whether to turn on more.
